These sunglasses and this fire clay crab are modest tributes to the Carcinization process as a symbolic way to take time to think about why my inner world has, in repeated occasions, attempted to evolve into specific directions over the years but it didn’t quite happen. There is something about wearing them that provides the space to dive deeper into these insistent archetypes that drag me into what they think its best for me and it's not.
I love how the theory of Carcinization explains that for some mystical and unexplainable reason evolution has had many attempts to make other sea creatures evolve into crabs too. There is an insistence in the ocean that pushes exoskeletons to manifest over and over again. This is my humble tribute to this theory I suppose: Fire Clay Crab, 35 cm by 25 approx. Crab glasses, made from shells and a crab found on the beach and modified glasses.
